Cold-formed steel originated in 1838 when Russia, the United States, and Britain used presses or cold drawing machines to produce individual steel profiles, marking the prototype of cold-formed steel mills. In 1910, the United States pioneered the construction of cold-formed steel mills, leading to continuous cold bending forming and the industrialization of cold-formed steel production.

The development of cold bending forming technology abroad can be roughly divided into three stages: the exploration and trial production stage (1838-1909), the establishment and gradual promotion stage (1910-1959), and the rapid development stage (1960-present).

In recent years, my country's main cold bending forming technology and equipment have entered the world's advanced ranks. Forming mills commonly use roller mills, and advanced large-scale air bending forming FFX mills have been built in China. Newly built rolling mills generally adopt solid-state high-frequency welding, and double-blade milling saws are beginning to be used for cutting large sections.
